A existência está ligada à condição de uma situação específica. A existência não é uma estrutura; pelo contrário, aquela precisa de uma estrutura adequada para surgir e divulgar a sua originalidade. Uma existência não existe senão num campo limitado. Está inscrita algures: num local, num momento, num relacionamento.
O atelier. Onde luz e sombra se encontram. Tal qual o dia e a noite. A passagem das zonas luminosas para as zonas obscurecidas, «esculpir» através da luz e da obscuridade, acontece gradualmente, como se um véu existisse e cobrisse todas as coisas. O atelier é este espaço branco e espaço negro que co-habitam para a constituição de um diálogo entre a imagem (fotográfica, gráfica) e o objecto, criando não só uma relação entre si e o espaço que ocupam como também configurações dentro daquilo que Victor I. Stoichita apelidou, em A Short History of the Shadow, de «lusus naturae» — uma forma primordial em transmutação.

Existence is linked to the condition of a specific situation. However, the nature of this relationship is hardly obvious. Existence is not a structure; rather, it requires an adequate structure to take place and reveal its originality. An instance of existence only exists in a limited field. It is fixed somewhere—in a place, a moment, a relationship. The studio. Where light and shadow meet. Like day and night. The passage from the luminous zones to the darkened zones, “sculpting” through light and obscurity, happens gradually, as if a veil existed and covered everything. The studio is this white space and black space that co-inhabit for the constitution of a dialogue between the image (photographic, graphic) and the object, creating not only a relationship between itself and the space they occupy, but also configurations within what Victor I. Stoichita dubbed, in A Short History of the Shadow, «lusus naturae»—a primordial form in transmutation.
